One-Year Personal Growth and Training Program

As part of the Middendorf Institute for Breathexperience™ outreach, The Marin-Sonoma Center for Middendorf Breathexperience™ announces a new one-year program in personal growth and training, beginning September/October, 2006 in Sausalito and/or Sonoma.

This program can be used as the first step in training (Block I) or simply for personal growth and in-depth work.

The staff will include:

  • Margot Biestman, director and teacher
  • Jeffrey Crockett, guest teacher

We offer students a continual opportunity to grow by consciously sensing and experiencing movement of breath. We learn about the importance of experiencing breath, presence, and sensation as an all encompassing principle for development of Self. Students can realize how breathexperience becomes a tool to facilitate resolution and integration of holding patterns that restrict the body and breath. Breath orients to the wholeness of each individual within the group, with a chance to find personal meaning in the work.

Training in Breath Dialogue (Hands-On treatment) and Vowel Space work are integral parts of this program, which develop out of the same theoretical framework and principles of the Breath and Movement work.

Block 1 Personal Growth and Training

Some of the specific program elements include:

  • Introduction to an exploration of the laws of the natural breath.
  • Experience the allowing of the breath to come and go on its own and its connection to somatic intelligence.
  • Develop sensory awareness as a base from which to sense breath movement.
  • Develop presence and participation in being in the breath experience rather than observing it.
  • Explore the connection between breath and Self.
  • Experience the power of breath as a connecting and developing force.
  • Sense a connection and integration between the inner being and the world beyond.
  • Breathexperience as a tool for growing self-responsibility.
  • Integrate breathexperience into daily life.

Three Possibilities for Participation

We offer three possibilities for participation in Block I, which will be decided by the director, taking into consideration a majority of participants’ needs. We advise the first proposal because of continuity, consistency, and accumulation of breathexperience that can be integrated and more clearly understood in a concentrated period of four 10-day segments. However, we can be as flexible as possible to include those whose working schedules do not allow for absences during the week of 2 ½ days 4 times in a year. (Mondays are ½ day only in the morning 9:30-1:00, or in the afternoon from 2-5:30 or 3-6:30).
